Color Description ~ Chocolate Bulldog:

What makes a Chocolate Bulldog Chocolate?

The coat on a Chocolate Bulldog can vary greatly. The coat may be Red & White,

Red Piebald, Tri (Chocolate, Fawn & White or Chocolate, Tan & White),

Chocolate Marbled & White (similiar to brindle except the marbleing will be a

deep brown chocolate color) or Solid Marble. The darker color (marble) in the coat

should always be some shade of brown that is darker than the coat color. Black or

Red markings is a BRINDLE - not a Marbled Chocolate. The Chocolate Marble

can be over a Fawn Coat, a Red Coat or a lighter Brown coat. Because the coat color

varies in Chocolate Bulldogs, the color of the coat is NOT what makes a

Chocolate Bulldog Chocolate. The name "Chocolate" refers VERY SPECIFICALLY

to the color of the Bulldogs Nose. If the nose is not brown, the Bulldog is NOT a

Chocolate. The eyes can vary in color from Copper, Golden brown, Green or Blue. You

will not find Dark Brown eyes or Black eyes on a Chocolate Bulldog. The eyeliner should have some Chocolate color as well as the lips. Remember - the nose is the explanation for

the word "Chocolate". You will NOT find a Chocolate Nose on a regular

color Bulldog and you will not find a Black Nose on a Chocolate Bulldog!

There seems to be some questions out there as to rather "purebred" Chocolate English Bulldogs really exist?

My answer to that is: "Ask the AKC Champion breeders who are having Chocolate nose pups pop up in their litters unexpectedly!"

You can not deny genetics......
